Types of restraints

Choosing material and fit
Velcro and soft silicone cuffs are best to start; leather spreads pressure over a wider band and holds buckles and locks; metal looks strict but presses more. A cuff should be snug enough not to slip over the hand, with room for one finger between cuff and skin. Check the adjustable range on each product page.
Safe use
Agree a safeword and a non-verbal signal before you begin. Check hands and feet regularly for cold, tingling, numbness or colour change and release immediately if they appear. Never leave a restrained person alone, never put weight on cuffs not made for suspension, and keep safety scissors or the key within reach. Wipe leather with a damp cloth and let it air dry; wash velcro and fabric cuffs by hand.
Cuffs combine well with a spreader bar, rope or bondage tape and a blindfold.

Leather or velcro cuffs?
Velcro is quick, cheap and easy to release. Leather is stronger, more comfortable for longer scenes and can be locked with a padlock, at a higher price. Lined leather cuffs spread the pressure best when the wearer pulls against them, and they last for years with a little care.
How tight should bondage cuffs be?
Snug enough not to slip over the hand, with room for one finger between cuff and skin. Loosen them at once at tingling, numbness or cold fingers. Never place cuffs over a joint or bone, and always keep keys or bondage safety scissors within reach during a scene.
How can I tie someone to a bed without bedposts?
Use an under-bed restraint system: straps run under the mattress with a cuff at each corner, so any bed works. Door restraints hang over a closed door. Both are quick to set up and to remove, and the cuffs can usually be detached for use on their own.
Are metal handcuffs safe for bondage?
For short, playful scenes, yes, ideally with a fluffy lining and a safety release. Metal handcuffs can press on the wrist, so for longer bondage, padded leather or velcro cuffs are safer and more comfortable. Always keep the key close at hand and never leave the wearer alone.
