Spreader Bars
A spreader bar keeps legs or arms apart so the person in restraints is fully open and on display. This shelf has adjustable and fixed bars with neoprene or leather cuffs from Ouch! and Red Leather, stainless models from Steel by Shots, and more specialised pieces such as thigh spreaders with labia clamps and medical style specula. Good for couples who want to raise the intensity of bondage.

Bar types and lengths
Adjustable bars, like the compact Red Leather model, let you change the gap during play and store easily. Fixed stainless steel bars feel heavier and more serious. Look at whether cuffs are included: bars with padded ankle cuffs are ready to use, while bars with plain rings let you clip on your own cuffs. Thigh spreaders and labia spreaders from XR Brands and Ouch! target more intimate areas and are best for experienced players.
Using a spreader safely
Start with a modest width, because a wide stance strains hips and inner thighs faster than you expect. Never leave someone alone while restrained, and make sure you can release the cuffs quickly. Steel specula and anal spreaders need plenty of lubricant, slow movements and clean hands. Wash steel with warm soapy water and dry it fully.
Can I use a spreader bar on wrists as well?
Yes, most bars work on wrists or ankles. A shorter bar or the narrowest setting is usually more comfortable for arms.
What pairs well with a spreader bar?
A paddle or a blindfold, because the open position leaves your partner nicely exposed.
