Drip candles or massage candles
Drip candles, such as the XR Brands Dark Drippers or the Ouch! multicolour set, are made with wax blends that melt at a lower temperature than household candles, so the drops feel hot without burning. Massage candles melt into a skin friendly oil that you pour into your hands and work in, ideal for gentler play. Never use ordinary decorative candles on skin.
Safe wax play
Test a drop on your own inner arm first. The higher you hold the candle, the more the wax cools before it lands. Avoid the face, genitals and hair, and protect your bedding with an old sheet or towel. Keep water close, never leave a burning candle unattended and blow it out before moving. Peel off dried wax or lift it with a blunt scraper, then apply a little oil.
Will the wax stain sheets?
Coloured wax can. Put an old towel or a dedicated play sheet underneath.
